Course Overview
The NRSWA Street Works Supervisor course (Units LA, S1-S5 & S7) is a comprehensive five-day programme designed for personnel tasked with supervising highway excavation and reinstatement works.
Supervisors play a critical role in ensuring contractors comply with statutory requirements under the New Roads and Street Works Act. Through detailed classroom studies and practical supervisory exercises, delegates learn to audit cable location activities, inspect temporary traffic control setups, and oversee trench excavation and shoring safety. Additionally, the course trains delegates to verify backfill compaction quality, assess bituminous and modular reinstatement standards, and enforce site safety.
Successful candidates gain the full range of supervisor accreditations required by local authorities and utility clients.
Prerequisites:
Candidates should have working knowledge or background experience in civil engineering, utilities, or roadworks. Good literacy and spoken English are essential. Safety footwear, ear defenders, safety glasses and high-visibility clothing are required for practical assessments.
