Course Overview
The NRSWA Street Works Unit 10 (S1) course is specifically structured for supervisors, site engineers, and managers responsible for overseeing highway operations and maintaining safety standards.
Rather than physically setting up traffic management equipment, delegates focus on auditing site layouts, verifying legal compliance, and identifying safety hazards. The curriculum delves into the legal requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) and the Safety at Street Works and Road Works Code of Practice. Delegates learn to evaluate lead-in tapers, safety zones, pedestrian diversions, and temporary traffic signal installations.
Emphasis is placed on taking corrective action when non-compliance is identified, ensuring works remain legal, safe, and fully accessible to the public. Successful completion grants SWQR registration for Unit S1.
